Introduction

Our goal is to provide a historical background on the development of ADHD. We will explore the precursors to ADHD as well as more recent developments in the diagnosis. Then our focus will shift to an analysis of the past theories of the causes of ADHD. Our examination will include environmental and genetic factors. Diet was previously believed to play a major role in one developing ADHD. Research later showed that other factors, such as genetics, should be taken into account. Finally, we will travel through time to learn about the different treatments and medications that have been used to treat ADHD.
